Pull for Pride 2018

This past Saturday I participated in Pull for Pride, a powerlifting charity event through the @WomensStrengthCoalition! The event helped raise funds for the @AliForneyCenter here in NYC, an organization that helps provide housing and other support services to homeless LGBTQ youths. _ Pull for Pride also took place in San Diego, Atlanta, Richmond, Stewartstown, and Washington D.C. that day and altogether raised about $100,000.00 for similar charities and outreach groups throughout these cities. _ I had a blast deadlifting alongside my fellow @squatsandscience and @murderofcrowsbarbellclub powerlifting friends, who all crushed it that day 💪🏻 The crowd's energy was unbelievable--if you turn your sound on, there was that much applause for EVERY single lifter, for EACH of their three attempts throughout the ENTIRE day. I don't think I've ever had that many strangers cheer so enthusiastically for me before, and it was so encouraging to compete alongside and in front of people who had all gathered together for an awesome cause. _ Shoutout to my fam who was in the crowd that day (including my brother @theclemdelaclem) and had never witnessed any powerlifting before. My dad sprawled out like Dennis Rodman diving for a loose ball to get these pictures & videos, and my mom held her breath during all my attempts afraid I was gonna kill myself each time 😂 _ Thanks to @barbellsandcats & @nthomas90 for their expert handling and attempt selection, including a 15 kg jump to give me an unexpected PR that day 🙌🏼 _ 192.5 kg / 424 lbs 202.5 kg / 446 lbs 217.5 kg / 479 lbs #pridemonth #lgbtq
